Faction makes room for new faces and fresh perspectives
“We believe that democracy thrives on the rotation of responsibility and new people with new ideas regularly coming in. For us, this mandate was, from the beginning, an office for a limited time. We can say with pride that we have given our all to shape Frankfurt in a progressive, pragmatic, and European way. Furthermore, we have shown that a new team is also capable of taking on governmental responsibility,” declare Martin Huber, Britta Wollkopf, Johannes Hauenschild, and Elisa Grote, city councilors for Volt in the Römer.
After five years of dedicated work in Frankfurt’s Römer, the Volt faction will pass the baton for the 2026 local election. All four current faction members will no longer run on the top list positions for the city council assembly. “Of course, we will continue to work with full energy until the end of the legislative period to achieve as much as possible for our city,” said the Volt faction.
The Volt faction looks to the coming months with confidence. With the nomination assembly on October 11th for the 2026 local election, an exciting process begins in which experienced individuals from other areas of local politics, as well as many new faces, will get the chance to take on future responsibility for the city of Frankfurt. “On the one hand, we are pleased when already experienced candidates enrich our list with continuity, thus ensuring a balanced mix. At the same time, we consciously want to send a signal, because while other parties hardly focus on renewal, we remain true to our line and also open up politics for fresh perspectives and unbiased viewpoints,” said the Volt faction.
As soon as the new list is finalized, the Volt faction will begin the handover to the future mandate holders. All previous city councilors will continue to support the new mandate holders in an advisory capacity during the initial phase of the new legislative period to ensure a smooth transition.
With its already published accountability report, the Volt faction has drawn a balance sheet and shown how much has been achieved in recent years and in which areas there is still a great need for action. “Now we look forward to the upcoming campaign for the 2026 local election and to a strong list of dedicated people who will continue to break up the encrusted political structures in Frankfurt with fresh energy,” the Volt faction concluded.
