This motion (NR.247) instructs the magistrate to examine an alternative offer to the fireworks for the turn of the year 2022/23 in the form of a light show, which should take place at various locations throughout the city. Fireworks cause particulate emissions in high quantities and the noise burdens traumatised people and many animals. Anyone who walks the streets during the new year knows the wrappers and remains of fireworks are left behind as trash. Additionally, the fire brigade and rescue forces, who also want to celebrate the new year, are needed in countless avoidable operations.
