With this motion (NR.482), the coalition reforms the commercial special use for outdoor gastronomy. Especially after the restrictions caused by the Corona pandemic, we do not want to further inconvenience restaurants regarding the use of space. At the same time, space for pedestrians should not be excessively blocked by restaurants. Our suggested compromise between these two interests is that at least half of the public space of a square is preserved for pedestrians. In return, restaurants will be allowed to use parking spaces in front of their businesses for a small fee for guests. In this way, we preserve cultural offerings in the city while at the same time ensuring a fairer distribution of traffic space.
