Volt Frankfurt und Volt im Römer gratulieren Mike Josef zum Wahlsieg
olt Frankfurt and Volt im Römer congratulate Mike Josef on his election victory. With Mike Josef, the people of Frankfurt have chosen a full-blooded Frankfurter as the future representative of the city, who not only has the necessary professional skills, but is also approachable and likeable in his dealings with people. Mike Josef’s career shows that Frankfurt is a diverse city that opens up opportunities for people. With him as Lord Mayor, we have to put this out there and work to ensure that all people who come to Frankfurt can find their place and also their success here.
“With Mike Josef as our new mayor, we finally have a person in office again who is capable of political action and at the same time part of the governing coalition. My hope is that we will reach clear decisions more quickly in the future. With him as mayor, we also expect to have more support for the digitization of the city in order to create a more efficient and accessible administration for citizens. This is particularly important for such a cross-cutting issue, which ultimately affects all departments,” says Martin Huber, Chairman of the Volt parliamentary group in the Römer.
The time of self-promotion, intransparency and corruption in the office of the Lord Mayor has now come to an end with the new election made possible by the voters themselves. Furthermore, in connection with the AWO affair, clarification must be pursued and consequences drawn. The city must also take structural measures to prevent corruption in order to strengthen trust in democratic institutions. The creation of the whistleblower position and the aspired membership in Transparency International is a step in the right direction, further such measures have to be pushed forward together with the Lord Mayor. We look favorably on Mike Josef’s proposal to break up the main office in Department 1 and, among other things, to transfer responsibility for international affairs and the twin cities to Department 5 for reasons of transparency. In addition, the restructuring will enable a Frankfurt European policy from a single source.
The party also sees the election result as a good sign that the voters are behind the coalition in the Römer: “We congratulate Mike Josef on his election as the new Lord Mayor of the City of Frankfurt am Main and are pleased that there is now clarity again and the magistrate can continue his work. Now it is important to continue the work in the Römer together and to bring Frankfurt forward as a European city”, says Finn Follert, City Lead at Volt Frankfurt.
